Journal Entry #4

 Database

During the library section we learn a lot about useful tools that can be found in the john jay library website. We first were introduced to the professor Maria Kiriakova who taught us how to use the database and some other tools. One tool that seems to be very helpful is called citation is located on the bottom of the search bard. It will definitely help me at the end of my research paper when am citing the different types of articles, book, news that I use.  This tool is very important to everyone who is writing a research paper because it helps them in their citation not only MLA style, also APA styles and other types of citations such as Chicago style.

We also learn different databases that can facilitate our search for articles, newspapers, history, and books.  For example, the database called "CQ researcher" where you can find the background information and a lot of history over the topic being study. Another important database is “Academic search complete (EBSCOhost)" which will definitely will be one of the most use in my list.  Why? Because is very simple to search for articles that are in full text and that are consider scholars, also we can find articles that had been through the process of peer-review. But the best way to find an article is by searching on the "OneSearch" were you can select different sources in which you one to find those articles. Also with one-word thousands of articles are found.
