Reflection to The Writing Center Sessions


Reflection on writing center sessions

At the beginning of my English course I was elected to be part of the jumpstart program. Is a program that help students improve in their writing skills. In four sections with were taught about the principles of writing, also to analyze stories finding their theme and reasoning. Attending to the writing center made my writing skill sharper and also it prepare me for future works. The jumpstart programs was not complicated it was quite the opposite, simple and easy to understand. From my point of view I can tell that it did help me improve my writing not in is totality but it did improve.
            One of the ways in which the writing center help me was in the use of past tense and present. I always get confuse and mixed them together, also to use the right verbs in specific occasions. As a matter of fact it taught me that in order for your readers to not get overwhelm you must know when to use words such as “playing” and “play”, “reading” and  “read”. That all words make part of a sentence, and for readers to feel calm we as writers have to make the reading in a smooth way. In conclusion, the writing center had a positive impact in me.

I often attend the writing center for this issue. The use of quotes an explaining was not a trouble for me; the library sections help me a lot when I look for articles.  The peer review helps me a lot when It came to reduce extra words. My Life My Choice  “Don’t let anyone affect the way you think” those were the word my mom told me when I followed my friends into the wrong path of cutting class. After a few days of though I finally realize how important those words were. To not let yourself become a victim of peer pressure, or to let other influence in your ideologies. After readying some experiments done by the common people I realize how the idea of peer pressure sure was a problem. For example, in the articles student who knew were right in the decision they made, decided to choose the wrong answer to avoid an uncomfortable moment. Pay to Live, and Sell to Eat   Human trafficking has been a big and controversial topic. People that donate organs illegally or being force to work as sexual slaves is something that is not tolerated. In my English course we had some reading in were human trafficking was discus. Facts about it were brought up, and most of the people who suffer for human trafficking come from the low-income families and countries. Is an option that people decide to take to gain some money or something they are force to work because they fear of the consequences.
